Image guide

Where photos come from and how uploads override them.

ACTS — Image gathering guide

Principle (from the deck): *every image shows the helpers — the hands, the people, the presence.* Warm, candid, real. World events (fires, floods, public tragedy) are shown with dignity, never sensationalized.

Where images are used

  • Home — Cards: a photo tops each request/offer card.
  • Immersive (18–25): the photo is the full screen, story overlaid.
  • Act Detail: the hero photo.

Each is chosen by category (below), matched from the act/imagery type.

Specs

  • Aspect: immersive reads best portrait (9:16); cards/hero crop fine from landscape via object-cover. Provide the largest available.
  • Resolution: ≥ 1600px on the long edge.
  • Tone: warm light, shallow depth, human. Faces are welcome but dignified; get consent for identifiable people in owned photos.

Sourcing

  1. Interim — Unsplash (free for commercial use, Unsplash License). A curated starter set is already wired in lib/photos.ts for hands / candle / church / shrine / pilgrimage, so the app shows real photos today.
  2. Upload — the control-room Images tab pushes photos to Supabase Storage (choose a category on upload). These join the gallery.
  3. Owned photography — preferred long-term. Replace the Unsplash set as the real library is gathered; keep the same category keys so nothing else changes.

Categories without an interim set yet: Care & hospital · Gravesite · Community · World & vigil. Prioritize these when shooting or sourcing.
